Warehouse Jobs in India: What You’ll Do, Earn and Need to Start

A fixed monthly salary, benefits in many roles, and no experience needed to get your first shift.

Every online order in India passes through a warehouse before it reaches a door. That’s why e-commerce and logistics companies keep hiring people for picking, packing and sorting, often with no experience at all.

Unlike delivery, this is a salaried job: fixed shifts, a monthly salary and, in many roles, PF and insurance.

Here’s what the work really looks like and how to get in.

The Work

What You’d Actually Do

PickerFinding the right items on the shelves using a handheld scanner.
PackerChecking, packing and labelling orders so they’re ready to ship.
Sorter and loaderMoving parcels to the right route and loading them for dispatch.

Training happens on the job. Most people learn the scanner and the routine in their first few days.

The Money

What Warehouse Jobs Pay

Typical start ₹11,000 to ₹20,000 a month Depends on city, shift and attendance.
Large e-commerce warehouses Up to ₹22,000 to ₹25,000 Some big online retailers pay freshers at the top of the range.
Benefits PF and insurance Included in many roles, which delivery work usually doesn’t offer.

Pay arrives as a monthly salary straight into your bank account. During big sale seasons, when order volumes jump, some warehouses add extra shifts.

Worth knowing: many warehouse jobs are filled through staffing agencies on a contract. That’s normal, and it’s often how people get their first permanent role later.

⚠️ Never Pay to Get a Warehouse Job

Fake “warehouse job” offers using big company names are common. Walk away if:

  • You’re asked to pay for an ID card, uniform, medical test or “joining kit”
  • The offer comes by WhatsApp with no interview at all
  • Payment is requested to a personal UPI ID
  • Someone promises a job “guaranteed” in exchange for a fee

Genuine employers don’t charge you to work for them. If you’ve been targeted, report it at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
